Worum geht es in Automan?
Walter Nebicher ist Computerfachmann im Police Department von Los Angeles. Gerne würde er aktiv an der Verbrechensbekämpfung auf den Straßen teilnehmen, doch sein Chef, Captain Boyd, pfeift ihn ständig zurück, und auch die anderen Polizisten nehmen Walter eigentlich nicht so richtig ernst. Ausgleich findet der Computerfreak in seiner Freizeit, wo er Computerspiele kreiert. Seine wichtigste Erfindung dabei ist „Automan“, bei dem es sich um ein dreidimensionales Hologramm handelt, das sogar ohne Bildschirm sichtbar wird. Da Walter ihn als elektronischen Superdetektiv programmiert hat, ist Automan nun der unübertroffene Verbrechensbekämpfer. Wichtige Dienste leistet Automan bei der Jagd nach Verbrechern sein Helfer „Cursor“, ein kleines, leuchtendes Sechseck, das alles hervorbringen kann, was der elektronische Verbrecherschreck gerade braucht.
