Worum geht es in Daphne in the Brilliant Blue?
In der Zukunft ist die Erde zum Großteil von Wasser bedeckt bis auf die letzten übrig gebliebenen Städte, die weiterhin blühen und gedeihen. Maia Mizuki versucht schon seit geraumer Zeit an der Ocean Agency, einer staatlichen Organisation, angenommen zu werden. Als sie kläglich scheitert, steht sie vor der Obdachlosigkeit. Eine Serie an unglücklichen Ereignissen zwingen sie zu einem Job bei Nereids, einer Sicherheits- und Untersuchungsfirma, die aber auch sonst alles macht, wenn der Preis stimmt. Schon bald wird ihr klar, dass kein Angestellter der Firma »normal« ist. Viele Gefahren und ein verrückter Alltag warten auf das Mädchen, doch sie gibt ihr Bestes, um mit der neuen Wendung in ihrem Leben klar zu kommen.

While the treasure hunters chases off the Ocean Agency’s pursuit vehicle. Maia descends into the shell of the city proper. Once inside memories flood her mind. Suddenly she recalls the outbreak from the biological facility. She finds the time capsule she and her brother buried and then realizes the person that raised her as her grandfather was really her older brother.
