Worum geht es in Glastonbury?
Das Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts ist das größte Open-Air-Musik- und Performancekunstfestival der Welt. Es ist vor allem für seine zeitgenössische Musik bekannt, bietet aber auch Tanz, Comedy, Theater, Zirkus, Kabarett und viele weitere Kunstformen. 2005 umfasste das Festivalgelände über 364 Hektar, es gab über 385 Live-Auftritte und rund 150.000 Besucher. Obwohl sich die Einwohner von Pilton seit Jahren über den Lärm am Wochenende beschweren, traten 2007 über 700 Künstler auf über 80 Bühnen auf. Glastonbury wurde stark von der Hippie-Bewegung und den freien Festivals der 1970er-Jahre, insbesondere dem Isle of Wight Festival, beeinflusst.
