She has to face the reluctance of the police officers taking her statement. After leaving Paris, Laura had returned to live with her father, Max, a former boxer who had become the mayor's chauffeur. Seeing an easy target in the shy young girl, the mayor agreed to pull some strings to get her a place to live.
