Di cosa parla Anna and the King?
Nel 1862 Anna Leonowens, insegnante inglese da poco vedova, arriva nel Siam insieme al figlio adolescente. A Bangkok ha accettato di fare da precettrice ai 58 figli di re Mongkut, alla moglie ufficiale, alle concubine. Anna sa ben poco del sovrano siamese tranne che il suo popolo lo venera come un dio. Essere ammessi alla sua presenza e rivolgergli la parola sono azioni sottoposte ad una ritualità rigida e immutabile.
