Waar gaat By the Grace of the Gods over?
Slechts 39 jaar na een leven vol pech overlijdt Ryoma Takebayashi in zijn slaap! Drie goddelijke wezens hebben medelijden met hem en tonen medeleven door hem als jonge jongen te reïncarneren in een magische, nieuwe wereld. Nu besteedt hij zijn tijd aan het onderzoeken en verzorgen van slijm in het bos. Maar nadat hij een gewonde reiziger heeft genezen, besluit Ryoma met zijn nieuwe vrienden op reis te gaan om zijn kracht te gebruiken om anderen te helpen. Er wacht hem een hele nieuwe wereld, waar zijn vaardigheden als magie gebruiker en slijm temmer verrassing en bewondering blijven opwekken.
